Yuri on Ice melted the hearts of many viewers. Still, the second season of the series is a dream that has yet to come true.
In Yuri on Ice, it’s all about the figure skater Yuri, who loses his passion after a crushing defeat. He thinks about quitting the sport and loses all motivation to take part in the next championship.
Only when his hero, Victor Nikiforov, arrives at his doorstep does he regain his strength. Together with his new coach, Yuri decides to take part in the legendary Grand Prix final again, but not without tough competition.
Yuri on Ice Season 2: How About the Sequel?
Yuri on Ice combines the genres of sport, romance, and boy love in an enchanting way. When the anime first made its debut in October 2016, it quickly garnered a huge fan base.
Unfortunately, the series has been quiet since the end of season 1, which is why fans are wondering when it will finally continue.
At this time, the responsible producers have not yet confirmed a second season. It is still unclear whether or when the breathtaking story will continue.
The only thing that is certain is that a film called “Yuri on Ice the Movie: Ice Adolesence” is in the works. The cinema strip is intended to continue the plot of the series and has already been advertised with the first trailer.
Unfortunately, the film’s release date is still in the stars. Although production started on it a few years ago, the effects of the current pandemic have slowed progress. The last statement from the makers appeared in November 2020.
Apparently, the Yuri on Ice franchise is currently literally on ice. Still, fans shouldn’t despair. The first season of the sporty anime was a resounding success that took off not only in Japan but also in the rest of the world.
The director in charge, Sayo Yamamoto, was also positive about a second season.
In an interview, she stated: “I really think the story of Yuri on Ice has been well summed up in its 12 episodes, but I’d be lying if I said it’s over. We can’t stop, we won’t stop, we refuse to stop! ”
