Mykonos is no longer a hidden gem, and you can visit the island in a variety of ways. Almost all Swiss airports offer flights to Athens with a stopover, so you can board the plane from your home airport and arrive in Mykonos in 5 to 10 hours.
The flight and the length of your stopover in Athens account for the variable travel time.
The island of the Cyclades can also be reached by ferry in a few hours. The ferry departs from a port in Rafina or Piraeus, for example.
There is a bus from Athens airport to both cities that costs around 3 CHF. At the port, you can book a speedboat crossing for around CHF 55 to 65 or a regular crossing for around CHF 33 to 44.
The speedboat takes about 2.5 hours to complete the journey, whereas the normal crossing takes nearly 5 hours.

The island of the Cyclades is known for its stunning beaches. Every vacationer will be in raptures because the water is so clear.
Mykonos’ most famous beaches, Paradise Beach and Super Paradise Beach, are located in the south of the island, about 10 kilometers from Mykonos Town.
Because of its popularity, the number of visitors is steadily increasing, so expect a large number of tourists and long stretches of beach.
If you enjoy partying and don’t mind the music played by the numerous bars lining the promenade, the Paradise Beaches are ideal. The Agois Sostisin in the island’s north is the polar opposite of the entire Paradise Beach.

In contrast to Paradise Beach’s very touristy beach promenade, there are only a few taverns here, but they serve excellent fish and traditional wine.
It’s best to rent a car and drive around the north of the island, stopping at the isolated beaches. The north is rarely visited by tourists.
Another beautiful beach in the southeast of the island, Kalo Livadi, is a great place to relax away from the crowds and mass tourism.
